Looysen ran in the 2012 election for North Dakota House District 12. Looysen and Kenneth Hall ran unopposed in the Republican primary on June 12. Jessica Haak and incumbent Lyle Hanson ran unopposed in the Democratic primary. Haak and Looysen defeated Hanson and Hall in the general election which took place on November 6, 2012.[2][3]
