Alfred Redmer Jr. is the Maryland Commissioner of Insurance. He has served in this position since January 2015. His term expires January 2019.[1]

Redmer previously held the role from June 2003 to October 2005. He was a member of the Maryland House of Delegates from 1991 to 2003, and served as Minority Leader from 2001 to 2003. He was a Republican candidate for District 7 in the Maryland State Senate in the November 2, 2010, state legislative elections. Redmer's term as Maryland Commissioner of Insurance expires January 2019.

Biography

Prior to his first appointment as Maryland Commissioner of Insurance, Redmer was a member of the Maryland General Assembly for 13 years, serving for two years as the House Minority Leader. A native of Baltimore, Redmer is former president of Redmer Insurance Group, LLC, and partner and president of Landmark Insurance & Financial Group. Redmer and his wife Sandy have five children and four grandchildren, and reside in Baltimore County. [2][3]

Redmer has served in office since January 2015 as the Maryland Commissioner of Insurance. He replaced Therese Goldsmith, who served in office from 2011 to 2015. He previously held the role from June 2003 to October 2005. Redmer was a member of the Maryland House of Delegates from 1991-2003, and served as Minority Leader from 2001-2003.
