Ancel Smith (b. February 9, 1946) was a Democratic member of the Kentucky House of Representatives. He represented the 92nd District from 2003-2011.

Smith is a contractor with Smith Trucking & Excavation. He previously worked in construction from 1985-2000, was a trucker from 1971-1983, and served in the United States Army from 1966-1968.

Smith is a member of Kentucky Colonels, and the Knott County Jaycees.[1]

In the May 18th primary election, Smith was defeated by Democratic primary opponent John Short by a margin of 6,474 to 5,896.[2]


On November 4, 2008, Smith was re-elected to the 92nd District Seat in the Kentucky House of Representatives with no opposition.[3] He raised $28,264 for his campaign.[4]
