Campaign themes

Schwartz's website highlighted the following campaign themes:

  • I believe that climate change is real, and poses a significant threat to our planet. Wyoming will continue to be a leader in energy production, and I feel it is our responsibility to also be a leader in finding ways to cut greenhouse gas emissions.
  • I believe that Wyoming should be the Equality State not only in name but also in deed. Women’s rights, gay marriage, affordable health care and pre-k education are examples of areas where I know Wyoming can do better.
  • I believe Wyoming can use the current budget surpluses to more strategically invest in its future. Protecting natural resources, nurturing small businesses and building a skilled workforce are vital to creating a thriving 21st century economy.[1][2]

Legislative scorecards are used to evaluate elected public officials based on voting record. Some scorecards are created by political advocacy groups with a focus on specific issues, while others are developed by newspapers and are broad in scope. Scorecards are meant to be used as a tool for voters to have a quick picture of whether their views align with a particular legislator's record.

Because scorecards can be specific to particular issues or general to a state’s legislative term, for example, each report should be considered on its own merits. Each entity that publishes these reports uses different methodologies and definitions for the terms used.

An overview for scorecards in all 50 states can be found on this page. To contribute to the list of Wyoming scorecards, email suggestions to
