This measure sought to renewal a $.056 levy on property taxes in the district which on average is about $162 a year for homeowners. The levy currently generate around $3.18 million and renewed will be in place for a further five years. The current levy will expire at the end of 2010.[2] This levy generates around 10 percent of the school district's budget so school officials were trying to educate residents about the importance of this passing. They also were trying to stress that this was not a new tax but just a continuation of a tax that is already in place.[3]
