Ballotpedia:Summer 2010 Internship Program
Internships were open to current undergraduate and graduate students, and recent graduates.
All 8 interns worked in the Lucy Burns Institute office in Madison, Wisconsin and received a weekly stipend of $250.00.
Internships began on Monday, June 7 and concluded on Friday, August 13.
Nature of work
The Summer 2010 interns built non-partisan, political almanac-style online profiles of state legislators and candidates for state legislature.
Interns learned about online research, writing and social media, and they also become very familiar with state legislative elections, state legislators and state legislatures.
The Summer 2010 interns worked in the offices of the Lucy Burns Institute at 301 S. Bedford Street in Madison, Wisconsin, as part of a team that included a number of on-site and remote staff, a Director of Training, and other staff members.
Ballotpedia's office is located within very easy walking distance of several of Madison’s student housing areas. Madison is a large university town and it has many students with year-long apartment leases looking for summer sublets.
Madison is a beautiful city to experience in the summer. It has excellent biking, rollerblading and walking paths, as well as many bus routes. Two of Madison’s popular bike paths have sections that are quite close to the Ballotpedia office.
