A Battle Ground School District Tax Levy Renewal proposition was defeated on the February 12, 2013 election ballot in Clark County, which is in Washington.

If approved, this proposition would have authorized the Battle Ground School District to impose a replacement property tax levy of $24.42 million in 2014, $25.35 million in 2015, $26.3 million in 2016 and $27.25 million in 2017. The estimated millage rate for each year respectively is 4.49 mills ($4.49 per $1,000 of assessed valuation), 4.52 mills ($4.49 per $1,000 of assessed valuation), 4.51 mills ($4.49 per $1,000 of assessed valuation) and 4.46 mills ($4.49 per $1,000 of assessed valuation). This tax would be used to fund educational needs and school operations.[1]

Language on the ballot:

The Board of Directors of Battle Ground School District No. 119 adopted Resolution No. M-12, concerning a proposition for a replacement levy for education. This proposition would authorize the District to meet the educational needs of students by levying the following excess taxes, in place of an expiring levy, on all taxable property within the District, for support of the District’s General Fund educational programs, maintenance and operation expenses:

Year 2014: $24,420,000 (approx. $4.49/$1,000 of value)
Year 2015: $25,350,000 (approx. $4.52/$1,000 of value)
Year 2016: $26,300,000 (approx. $4.51/$1,000 of value)
Year 2017: $27,250,000 (approx. $4.46/$1,000 of value)
