Bay School District Sales Tax (August 2010)

There was a Bay School District Sales Tax proposition on the August ballot in Bay County.

This measure was approved

  • YES 17,208 (51.74%)Approveda
  • NO 16,048 (48.25%)[1]

This measure sought to enact a half cent sales tax increase for county residents that would be used to help with budget short falls the school district now faces. The school increased the property taxes within the district to also help with school funding, but were hopeful that the sales tax will pass so that they can ease off on the property taxes. They saw a sales tax as more fair because the burden is spread more evenly among the citizens.[2]
