The 2nd Congressional District of New Jersey will hold an election for the U.S. House of Representatives on November 4, 2014. Incumbent Frank LoBiondo defeated Mike Assad in the Republican primary on June 3, 2014, while Bill Hughes, Jr. defeated Dave Cole for the Democratic nomination. LoBiondo and Hughes will face off in the general election, along with independent candidates Gary Stein, Bayode Olabisi, Costantino Rozzo and Alexander Spano.
New Jersey's 2nd is considered a battleground district in 2014. Although LoBiondo won re-election in 2012 by a safe 17.4 percent margin of victory, the 2012 presidential race went Democratic, with Barack Obama winning the district by an 8.1 percent margin of victory.
