A Benton Harbor City Library Levy Increase measure was on the November 8, 2011 ballot in the city of Benton Harbor which is in Berrien County.

This measure sought to increase the current library levy to a rate of $2 per $1,000 of assessed property value for a further eleven years in order to continue to pay for operational costs of the library in the city.[2]

The question on the ballot:

Shall the previously approved increase in the tax limitations imposed under Article IX, Sec. 6 of the Michigan Constitution in the City of Benton Harbor, of 2.0 mills ($2.00 per $1,000 of taxable value), reduced to I .7 492 mills ($ 1 .7 5 per $ 1,000 of taxable value) by the required millage rollbacks, be renewed at and increased up to the original voted 2.0 mills ($2.00 per $1,000 of taxable value) and levied for 11 years, 2012 through 2022 inclusive, for operations of the Benton Harbor Public Library, raising an estimated $255,000.00 in the first year of the millage is levied?[3]
