Betty Kinney is a Democratic candidate for the District 1 seat on the Barrow County Board of Education in Georgia. She is running against a Republican in the general election on November 4, 2014. The Republican candidate will be selected in a runoff election on July 22, 2014.


Kinney is a community activist involved with the Rainwater Foundation, a local group that lobbied for improved safety at a local septic pond. She is also a panel member for the Piedmont Drug and Treatment Court.[1]

Betty Kinney is running against a Republican candidate in the general election on November 4, 2014. The winner of the Republican runoff election on July 22, 2014 will join Kinney on the general election ballot.

Barrow County School System is located in Barrow County, Georgia. The county seat of Barrow County is Winder, Georgia. Barrow County is home to 71,453 residents, according to the United States Census Bureau.[2] Barrow County School System is the 28th-largest school district in Georgia, serving 12,885 students during the 2011-2012 school year.[3]
