NASHUA, New Hampshire: Maggie Hassan, a Democratic candidate for Governor of New Hampshire in this year's election, will get a huge boost this afternoon: Bill Clinton is going to endorse her bid to succeed outgoing governor John Lynch.

Hassan, who served in the New Hampshire State Senate from 2004-2010, is one of three candidates seeking the Democratic nomination this year. She is slated to face former state Senator Jackie Cilley and retired Air Force officer Bill Kennedy in the primary election on September 11th.

Cilley has picked up key endorsements from the State Employees' Association of New Hampshire[1] and the Professional Fire Fighters of New Hampshire[2] but Clinton's nod to Cilley is the most national prominent endorsement of the race thus far. It also may be the edge she needs to defeat Cilley and win the nomination: In mid-May, Hassan had a 3 point lead over Cilley in the polls, but with 57% of the Democratic voters undecided, it gave a clear signal that the seat is up for grabs.[3]
