Conn ran in the special election for District 16 of the Kentucky State Senate. He was defeated by Sara Beth Gregory (R) in the general election on December 18, 2012.[1][2]

David Williams (R) resigned the seat after he was appointed by Governor Steve Beshear as a circuit judge on the 40th judicial circuit on November 2, 2012.[3][4][5]
