This measure sought to renew the current fire levy which is set at a rate of $.6 per $1,000 of assessed value for a further two years in order to continue to pay for fire protection and emergency services in the township.[2]

Text of measure

The question on the ballot:

Shall the previous voted increase in the tax limitation imposed under Article IX, Sec. 6 of the Michigan Constitution on general ad valorem taxes within the Township of Bingham, County of Clinton, Michigan be renewed in an amount not to exceed .600 mills (that being $0.60 per thousand dollars of taxable value) on all real and personal property in the Township, for a period of 2 years, for calendar years 2012 through 2013, inclusive, to provide funds for the cost of fire protection and emergency services and equipment within the Township? If approved and levied in its entirety, this millage would raise an estimated $60,000.00 in 2012.[3]
