Issues

Campaign themes

In an electronic communication, Bartlett described his political philosophy:[1]

"That I will propose and/or support and/or vote on legislation solely on the basis of whether it is in the best interests of my constituents, in particular, and the state as a whole. That in making such a decision I will be genuinely receptive to considering all viewpoints and encourage the exchange of all pertinent ideas, opinions and facts. That at all times, I will strive to conduct myself in a considerate, respectful, and tolerant manner, and never demagogue an issue or engage in a personal attack. "

He continued,

"I do not support any of the current "" Right-to-Work"" union busting and believe that all workers benefit from the strength and protections of collective bargaining.

I do not support any voter ID move that does not include a very strong set of penalties for all attempts to interfere with legitimate voters exercising their right to vote, eg; false robo-calls to misdirect or imply that votes are already cast by registering, that voting dates are changed, locations are changed, etc., etc.. Penalties for such behavior should include significant monetary fines and jail time or public service work. I support a woman's right to choose and I believe that equal pay for equal work is basic.

I think that the minimum wage should be a living wage."
