Robert "Bobby" Guerra is a Democratic member of the Texas House of Representatives, representing District 41. He was first elected to the chamber in September 2012. Guerra filed to run in a special election to fill the seat, which was left vacant following the resignation of Veronica Gonzales (D) on June 29, 2012. However, since Guerra was the only candidate who filed to run in the election, the Texas Secretary of State's office declared him the winner and called off the election.[1]

Those candidates who did not receive 50% or more of the vote in their party primary on March 4 faced an additional May 27 primary runoff. The general election will take place on November 4, 2014. The signature-filing deadline for candidates wishing to run in these elections was December 9, 2013. Incumbent Bobby Guerra was unopposed in the Democratic primary. Elijah Casas was unopposed in the Republican primary. Guerra will face Casas in the general election.[3][4][5]
