Bosma to name Democrats as committee chairs
November 30, 2010
Indianapolis, Indiana: House Speaker Brian Bosma intends to practice what he preaches when it comes to bi-partisanship - he plans to head two of his committees with Democrats.
Although the House won't officially meet until early January of next year, plans are already under way to name Chet Dobis and Steven Stemler as heads of a new committee on reducing government regulations, and the commerce, small business and economic development committee, respectively.
Bosma has made it clear that he wants the House to end its long history of fighting. The appointment of two Democrats and his charge to lawmakers to consider both parties' legislation will hopefully start the new House off well in the new year. The election, he said, sent a message from the public to “end the partisan bickering, end the overreaching and work together.”[1]
The new House will officially convene on January 5, 2011.
