Bozrah Budget Referendum (2009)

The Bozrah Budget Referendum Appeared on the June 15, 2009 ballot in New London County, Connecticut in the town of Bozrah,where it was defeated. The $7.06 million proposed budget was voted on by town residents at the annual town hall meeting, as was done in a budget referendum the year before. The proposed budget for the 2009-2010 fiscal year is $7,068,065,118 and was approved by the town’s Board of Finance.[1][2]

Referendum wording

The electors of the Town of Bozrah and those entitled to vote at a Budget Referendum are hereby warned and notified of a referendum to be held at the Bozrah Town Hall on 15 June 2009 from 12:00 noon until 8:00 pm. The question that is to be answered by a “Yes” or “No” vote is as follows:

Should the Town of Bozrah appropriate sufficient sums of money to carry on the various divisions of Town Government for the fiscal year which will begin July 1, 2009 all of which have been approved and recommended by the Board of Finance to the extent of the amounts appearing opposite each category below:

  • Education: $5,059,358
  • General Government: $1,336,943
  • Capital: $668,817
  • Total: $7,065,118
