Sponholz was appointed by the Mayor of Greenfield to be an alternate on the Greenfield Planning Commission.
Sponholz earned his B.S. in Nursing from the University of Oshkosh in 1997. His professional experience includes working as a registered nurse. Sponholz served in the Wisconsin Army National Guard as a medic aboard a Blackhawk helicopter in Seoul, South Korea.
Sponholz's campaign slogan was "Start FRESH in Wisconsin:"
