Bristow Town Tax Increase (November 2009)

There was a proposed Bristow Town Tax Increase on the November 10 ballot in Creek County for residents in the town of Bristow.

The town sought to increase the sales tax by one cent in order to help fund the Bristow Medical Center. This was a concern for town residents since it is the only hospital nearby and if the sales tax increase had not been passed it would likely have been closed. The town had to hand over operation of the hospital to a private health group because they were not able to fund the running of it alone. If the hospital had been closed then the residents would have had to drive to Tulsa for any medical issues, which is over half an hour drive.[1]

This measure passed
