Burton Fire Department Levy Increase (August 2010)
This measure sought to add a 1 mill levy to local property taxes in order to help with the fire department's budget. Some cited that the last minute inclusion was too hasty, but others, notably the fire chief, stated that the department was in need of the increased funds in order to maintain needed services to the city. Out of date equipment and old fire trucks were the main problems the fire department noted.
This measure was approved
- YES 2,407 (59.71%)
- NO 1,624 (40.29%)

| FIRE DEPARTMENT MILLAGE
Shall an additional one (1) mill be levied against the taxable property within the City of Burton for a period of twenty (20) years commencing July 1, 2011. The purpose of this levy being to provide funding for capital improvements and the operations of the City of Burton Fire Department.
