Sharer was defeated by incumbent John Conyers, Jr..[2] Sharer ran in the 2012 election for the U.S. House to represent Michigan's 13th District. Sharer ran as a Libertarian candidate. He faced Harry T. Sawicki (R), Democratic incumbent John Conyers, Jr. and Martin Gray (UST) in the general election on November 6, 2012.[3]
