Christopher Counihan ran in the 2012 election for Delaware State Senate District 5. Counihan was a 2010 Democratic candidate for District 5 of the Delaware State Senate. The primary election was on September 14, 2010, and the general election was on November 2, 2010.

Counihan currently works as an adjunct professor at West Chester University. He has worked as an adjutant professor at the University of Delaware since 2004, where he will be returning to teach in Spring 2011. Prior to that he was North American Sales and Operations Manager for Allianz Worldwide Care, Ltd from 2000-2001, Senior Underwriter for CIGNA International Employee Benefits from 1997-2000, and Product Underwriter for American International Group from 1994-1997.

Counihan earned his MA and PhD in Political Science and International Relations from the University of Delaware. He also earned his M.A. in International Affairs from Drew University and B.A. in International Relations from St. Joseph's University.[1]

Counihan ran in the 2012 election for Delaware State Senate District 5. Counihan ran unopposed in the Democratic primary on September 11, 2012 and was defeated by incumbent Catherine Cloutier in the general election on November 6, 2012.[2][3]
