Charles Rufus "Chuck" Reed (born August 15, 1948) is the current Mayor of San Jose, California. He was first elected to this role on November 7, 2006. Before becoming mayor, Reed was a member of the San Jose City Council from 2000-2006, representing District 4.[1]

Biography

Reed was raised in Garden City, Kansas. He attended the United States Air Force Academy and served in Thailand during the Vietnam War. Reed earned a Master’s Degree in Public Affairs from Princeton University and a J.D. from Stanford Law School.[2]
