City & Village Electrical Aggregation Questions, 5 (March 2012)

Five Electrical Aggregation Questions were on the March 20, 2012 ballot in the designated areas which are in Madison County.

Four of these measures were approved, Collinsville defeated the measure.[1]

These measures sought to allow authorities the ability to aggregate electricity in the areas so as to buy it in bulk and allow for lower rates for residents who want to participate in the program. The communities which had this issue on the ballot include the cities of Alton and Collinsville as well as the villages of Bethalto, Glen Carbon and Godfrey.[2]

Text of measure

The question on the ballot:

Shall the City of Alton have the authority to arrange for the supply of electricity for its residential and small commercial retail customers who have not opted out of such a program?[3]
