Three (3) City of Holtville Utility User Tax ballot proposals (Measures M, N and O)
were on the November 8, 2011 ballot
for voters in the City of Holtville in Imperial County
Each measure was defeated.
Holtville currently has a 5% tax on utilities, including telephone service, energy, water and sewer.
Voters had three different options:
- Measure M: Reduce the utility tax by 1% every year for 5 years until it is altogether eliminated.
- Measure N: Reduce the tax by 0.5 percent for three years. Then, the city council would consider whether it can be reduced more.
- Measure O: Keep the tax in place, with a five-year sunset clause.
Since voters rejected all three options, the existing 5% tax will stay in place indefinitely.
Measure M

Measure N

Measure O
