City of Vernon Election Procedures, Measure A (June 2009)
Vernon holds its municipal elections in April of every even-numbered year. Prior to Measure A, the five members of its city council each served for a four-year term. At the time of the vote on Measure A, the terms of three members of the city council were set to end in April 2010, while the terms of the other two were set to end in April 2012.
The changes enacted by Measure A were
- Each member of the city council is to serve for a five-year term (an increase of one year)
- The terms of the city council members are now staggered so that one council seat comes up for election each year, including odd-numbered years.
- These final election results are from the Los Angeles County election office.
