2012
Kauffman's campaign website listed the following issues:[14]
- Agriculture In Idaho
- Excerpt: "As a farmer I can say that Idaho agriculture has enjoyed a couple of good price years, but it is under the same economic and over regulation pressures impacting other business and industry. In fact, the burden of over regulation affects all of Idaho agriculture more so than non-ag businesses. I believe the best solution to this is for growers to develop improved relationships with government regulators and work toward finding common sense solutions to bloated regulations by building a broad-based consensus."
- District 25 – Local Control
- Excerpt: "I believe that government that is most responsive to the people is government that is closest to them. That is, as many decisions as possible that directly effect our economy and our lives should be made by the most local representation."
- Idaho Education
- Excerpt: "Idaho has a vital interest in an education system that results in an educated workforce, enabling Idaho’s citizens to have a lifetime of learning, productivity, and economic opportunity. ...I support cost-effective, innovative strategies to strengthen Idaho’s education system."
- Idaho Transportation
- Excerpt: "Transportation funding will always be an issue, but roads and bridges need to be improved and maintained. With costs rising and revenues flat or declining, we need to have the discussion to address the shortfall. Additional revenue and new alternative funding sources need to be carefully considered and fully vetted."
- Idaho Water
- Excerpt: "The management of Idaho’s water resources is important to Idaho’s economy and need to be used and controlled by Idaho. I support the conjunctive management of ground and surface waters and aquifer recharge when consistent with the constitutional doctrine of prior appropriation."

Scorecards
A scorecard evaluates a legislator’s voting record. Its purpose is to inform voters about the legislator’s political positions. Because scorecards have varying purposes and methodologies, each report should be considered on its own merits. For example, an advocacy group’s scorecard may assess a legislator’s voting record on one issue while a state newspaper’s scorecard may evaluate the voting record in its entirety.
Ballotpedia is in the process of developing an encyclopedic list of published scorecards. Some states have a limited number of available scorecards or scorecards produced only by select groups. It is Ballotpedia’s goal to incorporate all available scorecards regardless of ideology or number.
