ANCHORAGE, Alaska: As the January 13, 2010 deadline approached for the Alaska Parental Notification Initiative effort, organizers worked harder to collected the required number of valid signatures in order to place it on the November 2, 2010 ballot. The Alaska Family Council sent out an alert the day before the deadline urging people to sign the petition.[1]

According to the alert, “Time still remains for us to cross off the remaining five (5) Districts but it will not happen unless Alaskans in those areas step forward today.” The state requires sponsors of initiatives to obtain signatures from seven percent of registered voters who voted in the previous general election in at least 20 of Alaska’s 40 legislative districts. No official word has been released by the Alaska Division of Elections official website as to if the initiative submitted signatures.
