CHEYENNE, Wyoming: On June 1, Constitution Party supporters turned in over 7,000 petition signatures to the Wyoming Secretary of State, seeking to be recognized as the fourth ballot qualified party in the state. Currently, the Libertarian Party is the only recognized third party in Wyoming. If the Secretary of State confirms the petition, the Constitution Party will be able to submit candidates for the general election.[1]

Wyoming is the only Rocky Mountain state without a Constitution Party affiliate. Constitution Party Western States Area Chairman Frank Fluckiger said candidates would be announced during their August convention. If a Constitution Party candidate for statewide or congressional race were to receive at least 2% of votes in the general election, the party would be designated as a major party in the next election.[2]
