The Consumer Protection Committee is a standing committee of the New York State Senate.
Per Senate Rules, committees of the New York State Senate are assigned by the Temporary President. Committees are assigned annually at the start of each term. The Temporary President shall appoint the chair and vice-chair of each committee and sub-committee. The Republican Conference Leader, the Independent Democratic Conference Leader and the Democratic Conference Leader are considered to be nonvoting ex-officio members on all standing committees which they are not members.
