A Cottonwood City Alternative Expenditure proposition was approved on the May 21, 2013, election ballot in Yavapai County, which is in Arizona.

This measure made permanent the adjusted base expenditure limitation that had been approved by voters every four years since 1981. If this measure had not been approved, the city's total expenditure would be cut from approximately $73.43 million in 2013 to $29.16 million in 2014 resulting in the cancellation and reduction of many city programs and services.[1]
