COLUMBIA, South Carolina: Rumors are circulating around the Palmetto State about a possible indictment from the U.S. Department of Justice against Gov. Nikki Haley on charges of tax fraud - possibly as early as this week.

The Palmetto Public Record, citing "two well-placed legal experts" reports "the Internal Revenue Service has been investigating since March 2011 the Sikh worship center run by Gov. Haley's father. At least five lawsuits have been filed against the Sikh Society of South Carolina since 2010, alleging the group bilked contractors out of nearly $130,000 for the construction of a new temple."[1] The report also noted Haley managed the temple's finances as late as 2003.

Haley denies she could be indicted in connection with the Sikh center: "I have never kept their books. I've never made deposits. I never signed checks. I never did financial statements. This is a church that I don't go to. There are no issues related to me and that church."[2]
