County, City & Village Electrical Aggregation Questions, 7 (March 2012)

Seven Electrical Aggregation Questions were on the March 20, 2012 ballot in the seven areas which are in Boone County.

Five of these measures were approved, Poplar Grove and unincorporated Boone County voted against aggregation.[1]

These measures sought to allow officials to buy electricity in bulk in order to obtain lower rates for residents who want to participate in the program. Those areas with this measure on their ballot include Boone County, the cities of Belvidere and Loves Park as well as the villages of Timberlane, Caledonia, Cherry Valley and Poplar Grove.[2]

The question on the ballot:

Shall the County of Boone have the authority to arrange for the supply of electricity for its residents and small commercial retail customers who have not opted out of such program?[3]
