Damascus Public Transit Restriction, Measure 3-350 (March 2010)
This measure was defeated
- YES 1,510 (48.62%)
- NO 1,596 51.38%)
This measure sought to prohibit the mass transit rail within the city and to prohibit public transportation providers. The reasoning behind the proposal was that by prohibiting public transportation it would better accommodate vehicle traffic and citizen traffic in the city. The group that got this measure onto the ballot, along with the other three Damascus measures is called ASK Damascus and have the reputation as an anti-government and anti-tax kind of a group. Due to the city being spread out, politicians are unsure how the vote would go in March.
