David Joyce (Republican Party) is a member of the U.S. House, representing Ohio's 14th Congressional District. He assumed office on January 3, 2013. His current term ends on January 3, 2027.

Biography

David Joyce was born in Cleveland, Ohio in 1957.[1] He earned a bachelor's degree in accounting and a J.D. from the University of Dayton in 1979 and 1983, respectively.[2] His previous work experience includes serving as prosecutor for Cuyahoga County, public defender for Geauga County and as prosecutor for Geauga County.[1]

Heading into the election, Ballotpedia rated this race as safely Republican. Incumbent David Joyce (R) defeated Michael Wager (D) in the general election. Joyce defeated Matt Lynch in the Republican primary and Wager defeated Alfred Mackey in the Democratic primary on March 15, 2016.[6]

Joyce won in the 2014 election for the U.S. House to represent Ohio's 14th District. Joyce won the Republican nomination in the primary on May 6, 2014. He then defeated Michael Wager (D) and David Macko (L) in the general election on November 4, 2014.[7]

Race background

Joyce was a member of the National Republican Congressional Committee's Patriot Program. The program was designed to assist vulnerable Republican incumbents in the 2014 election cycle.[8] He was also listed by the House Majority PAC as a target in 2014.[9][10][11]

Joyce won election to the U.S. House, representing Ohio's 14th District. Joyce was appointed as the replacement nominee on the Republican ticket, after incumbent Steven C. LaTourette announced on July 31, 2012, that he would be retiring in 2012, rather than seeking re-election.[13][14][15] Joyce ran against Dale Virgil Blanchard (D), Elaine R. Mastromatteo (G) and David Macko (L) in the general election on November 6, 2012.[16]
