David "Ike" Eichner was a 2012 Republican candidate who sought election to the U.S. House to represent the 6th Congressional District of Washington.

Biography

Eichner holds an undergraduate degree in Business Administration from the University of Washington. He was a nuclear-trained submarine officer in the United States Navy. He was a CPA after leaving the navy and also founded ICAN Software Corporation.[1]

Issues

Eichner's platform included:[2] "*IKE believes the current health care law should be replaced with market based reforms that bring down the cost of health care, increases access, and provides the consumer with more choices.

  • As a former submarine officer in the U.S. Navy with experience in naval shipyards, IKE understands the importance of Submarine Base Bangor and the Naval Shipyard in Bremerton to our local economy. Let's focus our defense expenditures on maintaining our local bases in high levels of readiness and ensuring peace through strength. Let's bring our heros home to their families...and bring back jobs as well.
  • IKE believes there are several keys to getting our economy back on track. One is to reduce investor uncertainty by reducing the class warfare rhetoric and restoring a stable environment in which business decision-makers can operate. The second thing needed is to simplify the corporate tax system by removing tax loopholes that reward the companies that lobby most effectively while at the same time lowering the corporate tax rate to be competitive with the rest of the world. Additionally, we should allow American companies to return capital to the United States without immediate additional taxation as this would spur trillions in new investment with resultant increase in jobs for Americans.
  • IKE has a four-step plan to help solve our illegal immigration problem:

Start by enforcing existing immigration laws. Fine businesses that knowingly hire illegal immigrants. Encourage states to verify that welfare recipients are not illegal immigrants. Encourage states to implement voter ID laws to ensure that only legal citizens participate in our elections."
