De Baca County is one of 33 counties in New Mexico. As of 2000, the population was 2,240. Its county seat is Fort Sumner. According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the county has a total area of 2,334 square miles (6,045 km²), of which, 2,325 square miles (6,021 km²) of it is land and 9 square miles (23 km²) of it (0.38%) is water.
