March 12, 2010

For cities, counties and school districts, Friday, March 12 is the final day to make a decision about whether to place local ballot measures on the June 8, 2010 ballot. A number of municipalities are waiting until the very last moment to make their decisions, including Sonoma County, where the decision about whether to put a $10 vehicle registration fee surcharge on the June ballot is coming down to today's 5:00 p.m. wire.[1]

March 12 is also the deadline for settling legal wrangles over ballot language issues related to June 8 ballot propositions. This affects Proposition 14 and Proposition 17, since both propositions are in the midst of ballot title lawsuits.
