Two Deerfield Township Fire Levy Renewal measures were on the August 7, 2012 ballot in the township of Deerfield, which is in Lenawee County.

Both measures were approved

The first measure sought to renew the renew fire levy which is set at a rate of $.50 per $1,000 of assessed value for a period of two years in order to further pay for fire equipment costs in the township.

Text of measure

The question on the ballot:

Proposition 1: Shall the 15 mill tax limitation on General Ad Valorem taxes within Deerfield Township imposed under Article IX, Sec. 6 of the Michigan Constitution be increased for said township by .5000 mills ($0.50 per $1000 of taxable value) for the period of 2012 and 2013 inclusive for maintenance and purchase of township fire equipment; and shall the township levy such increase in millage upon taxable Real and Personal Property within the township for said purposes, thereby raising in the first year an estimated $26,614?

Proposition 2: Shall the 15 mill tax limitation on General Ad Valorem taxes within Deerfield Township imposed under Article IX, Sec. 6 of the Michigan Constitution be increased for said township by .2500 mills ($0.25 per $1000 of taxable value) for the period of 2012 and 2013 inclusive for township fire department operation; and shall the township levy such increase in millage upon taxable Real and Personal Property within the township for said purpose, thereby raising in the first year an estimated $13,307?[3]
