Defiance Mayoral Election Amendment, 2009
The amendment called for eliminating the requirement to be a "qualified elector" of the city one year prior to election or appointment to the position of mayor. The amendment, however, will not affect the 1-year city residency requirement. Supporters of the amendment argue that the current law disqualifies 18-year-olds from seeking office.
