HARTFORD, Connecticut: Delaware's top law enforcer is expected to return to his job some time later this month after being released from Thomas Jefferson University Hospital with "a clean bill of health."[1] Beau Biden, Delaware Attorney General and son of Vice President Joe Biden, was released from the Thomas Jefferson University hospital in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on Tuesday, May 18, 2010, after suffering from what doctors believe to be a mild stroke.[2] He had been admitted to Christiana Hospital in Newark, Connecticut a week earlier after complaining of a "headache, numbness and paralysis."[1] Chief Deputy Attorney General Charles Butler has been placed in charge of the state attorney general's office until Biden returns to active duty at the end of the month.

Beau had at one time been tapped to fill the United States Senate seat left vacate after his father became Vice President. He, however, decided against such action, emailing supporters in late- January 2010 that he would "run for re-election as attorney general rather than seek the Democratic nomination for Senate."[3]
