GOP Government Shutdown Watch

In September of 2013, the DSCC launched "GOP Government Shutdown Watch," a web campaign targeting GOP Senate leadership, particularly Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell, and the Republican strategy of forcing a government shutdown if President Obama's healthcare reform law is not defunded. According to DSCC spokesman Justin Barasky, "Our 'GOP Shutdown Watch' campaign will hold Republican Senate candidates accountable for their reckless plan to shut down the government and possibly force the country into default." The "Shutdown Watch" web page includes a "Duration of the Republican Shutdown" continuous timer and reads:[6][7]

Radical Republicans in Congress are using the government shutdown to demand the dismantling of Obamacare. Republican leaders have embraced the Tea Party’s ultimatum that Obamacare must be destroyed at all costs. The continued Republican shutdown is having a devastating impact on the country.
