Cochran ran in the 2011 election for Mississippi Senate District 43. He lost to James Walley in the primary on August 2, 2011. Phillip Gandy and Connie Wilkerson defeated Robert Hendry and Roun McNeal in the Republican primary; Gandy and Wilkerson will face off in a primary runoff election on August 23, 2011. James Snyder is running as an Independent as well. The general election took place on November 8, 2011.[1]
