Dennis Wilson has served the state of Kansas as an elected official since 1992, as State Senator, candidate for Lieutenant Governor, County Treasurer, State Representative, and Precinct Committeeman.
Dennis is currently serving as State Senator for the 37th District and was elected in 2004. He is not seeking re-election because of his acceptance of the position he holds with American Majority. As a Senator, he served as the Vice Chairman of the Transportation Committee for a national organization, NCSL.
Prior to the State Senate, Dennis was elected as the Johnson County Treasurer in 2000. Dennis also served as the Chief of Staff for the Kansas State Treasurer Tim Shallenburger from 1998 to 2000. He was elected two terms from 1994 to 1998 to the Kansas House of Representatives and was Chairman of the House Insurance Committee.
Dennis was also a candidate for Kansas Lt. Governor in 2006.
Business and Family
In addition to his political involvement, Dennis has been involved in small business development since 1968, including the retail automobile and the banking businesses.
Wilson also actively belongs to a number of civic organizations, including serving as Johnson County Community College Foundation Board Member, previously serving as Vice President of the City Union Mission for the poor and homeless, and previously serving on two statewide boards, Kansas Inc. and Kansas Historical Society.
Dennis lives in Overland Park, Kansas with his wife Vickie. Together they have one grown daughter.
