North Dakota: A suit filed by businessman Robert Hale has been appealed to the North Dakota Supreme Court after it was dismissed by a state district judge last week. In his case, Hale argues that taxpayers should get money back that was given to private companies by the state and the city of Minot’s economic development fund. Hale is essentially challenging the use of public money to benefit private businesses, even if it is done with the intention of stimulating economic growth.[1]
