Eleanor Chavez (b. July 30, 1953) is a Democratic candidate for New Mexico Public Education Commissioner in the 2014 elections.[1]

Chavez is a former Democratic member of the New Mexico House of Representatives representing District 13 from 2009-2013.

Chavez did not run for re-election to the New Mexico House of Representatives in 2012. Instead, she ran for election to the State Senate.[2] She lost in the Democratic primary.

Chavez faced Michael Padilla, Cecelia Romero-Tkach, and James G. Taylor in the District 14 State Senate Democratic Primary on June 5, 2012. Padilla won the contest.
