Elena Parent (b. December 27, 1975) is a 2014 Democratic candidate for District 42 of the Georgia State Senate.

Parent served in the Georgia House of Representatives, representing District 81 from 2011 to 2013.


Parent is Director of Development for HOPE Atlanta, a non-profit dedicated to preventing homelessness. She previously worked as chief of staff for state Sen. David Adelman and as a litigator for the firm of Sutherland Asbill & Brennan. She received her law degree from the University of Virginia School of Law. Parent and her husband, Briley Brisendine, have one son.

Elections for the office of Georgia State Senate will take place in 2014. A primary election took place May 20, 2014; a runoff election will take place where necessary on July 22, 2014. The general election will be held on November 4, 2014. The signature-filing deadline for candidates wishing to run in this election was March 7, 2014. Elena C. Parent defeated R. Kyle Williams in the Democratic primary, while Gregory E. "Greg" Williams was unopposed in the Republican primary. Parent will face Williams in the general election.[1][2]
