Eliot R. Cutler is an Independent candidate for Governor of Maine in 2014. He formally launched his second consecutive gubernatorial campaign - having previously sought the office in 2010 - on September 24, 2013.[1][2] Cutler hopes to set up a 2014 re-match with current incumbent Paul LePage, a first term Republican to whom Cutler lost the governorship in the 2010 general election by a margin of less than two percentage points. The general election takes place November 4, 2014.

Cutler is running for Governor of Maine in 2014. When he officially entered the race on September 24, 2013, Cutler had already been labeled as the presumptive Independent party candidate.[3] Incumbent Gov. Paul LePage, a Republican first elected in 2010, is running for re-election in 2014.[4] The general election takes place November 4, 2014.

In an investigation, Maine Watchdog looked at the contributions to all Maine gubernatorial candidates and found that the largest share of Cutler’s financing came out of his own pocketbook at $925,000.00. His total contributions, as of October 2010, for the campaign were $1,355,000.00.[5]
