Ennis Town Resort Tax (June 2010)

The Ennis Town Resort Tax was not on the June 8 ballot in Madison County for voters in the town of Ennis.

This measure did not garner enough support to be put on the ballot.

The town of Ennis was in need of money and because they are a town of over 5,500 people they are allowed to propose a resort tax within their town. The town has tried two previous times to get this issue onto their ballot, but to no success. Town council members were hoping to be able to add the extra revenue. Rooms and meals at resorts are the only items that could be taxes. Business owners do not think it would help, rather it would hurt their profits.[1]
